“I never thought I would be happy that my breast implant from a reconstruction following a mastectomy 11 years ago ruptured. For 11 years, I suffered pain and deformity, which my then plastic surgeon told me was “as good as it gets.” How utterly wrong that guy was. Dr. Gawley removed the old implant and reconstructed my right breast, then performed an implant and lift on my left one so that my breasts would approximately match. In the process, he removed ugly scarring on both breasts left by my prior procedure. My relief and joy following my surgery is inexpressable. He told me that my results were good, but with a change to a new implant that had been released in the US this year, my results would be (not just “good”, but) “exceptional”. I had gotten used to it and felt grateful to have had the ability to go direct to implant at the time of my mastectomy, so i was hesitant to consider a revision surgery.
