What is Reconstruction with Fat Transfer?
This form of breast reconstruction utilizes fat transfer. Fat transfer involves removing fatty tissue from other areas of the body and, in this case, using it to reconstruct the breasts.
How is Reconstruction with Fat Transfer Performed?
During reconstruction with fat transfer, our team will use liposuction to remove fat from the patient’s thighs, abdomen, and buttocks. The fatty tissue will then be liquidized and injected into the breasts to recreate a natural shape. With this technique, the body may reabsorb the fat over time, which may cause the breasts to lose some volume. It may take four to six individual procedures to see optimal results.
Recovery
Patients should follow the specific instructions given to them to ensure a safe and comfortable recovery. With fat transfer procedures, some fat may die (necrosis), which can cause pain, bleeding, numbness and fever. If this occurs, you should contact us immediately.
